Restaurant report (or rather — a “critique” of sorts)

When talking about restaurants and the way they serve people, we tend to focus on some key points: Are the prices high or low ? Was the service as professional and quick as promised by advertisements ? Does the atmosphere deliver the desired effect of becoming one with the culture of the food that the restaurants serve ?

All of these questions tend to be answered quite quickly and on the spot. As for me, not too long ago I went to a sushi restaurant and as expected, it was heavily inspired by japanese culture and cuisine.

To start of, the prices were somewhere in the middle. Not too low, not too high, but generally lean towards the high side, which is a bummer. That being said it IS affordable enough to make most people happy, myself included !

The service was, indeed, quick and professional. Of course service quality varies between different restaurants of the same “brand”, but the one I went to was, luckily enough, very good and friendly.

The atmosphere, however, was both amazing and very bland. Imagine this, a part of the restaurant you went to has amazingly made, japanese inspired artworks on the walls, but the moment you leave that part all you see are black walls and black tables, with black and white chairs. It really leaves you with a feeling of “missed potential”, but, overall — generally mediocre at best.

The food, of course, was amazing. That’s generally expected when we talk about “sushi” restaurants, but still — quality varies, and this time — it was on the high part of the quality spectrum !

All in all, it was a good enough experience to make me and my family happy. Not to mention, we do not come to restaurants to “judge them”, but rather, to eat and have fun with family and friends !

The restaurant shouldn’t change that much, but I would highly recommend reducing some prices on specific meals and adding a bit more “japanese” themed artwork on places where there is none.
